We are proud to announce that Kevin Litzman has been promoted from Senior Estimator to Preconstruction Manager, a role designed to enhance our ability to develop precise, accurate, and aggressive bids to ensure best-in-class pricing for our clients.
Kevin, has more than 15 years of experience in the construction industry including estimating, project management, cost management, and project controls for a wide range of commercial and civil projects. Since joining Westwood last November, Kevin has immediately had a positive impact on the organization’s estimating function. “Kevin is a highly detailed, analytical, and creative thinker who thoroughly understands the construction process, the big picture and nuances of different client programs, making sure to maximize our ability to be competitively priced,” said Mike McBride, the company’s President & Chief Operating Officer.
As Preconstruction Manager, his primary focus is to direct oversight of the estimating processes and systems to ensure consistency and efficiency. Kevin seeks opportunities for continuous improvement to develop a more effective bid process and increase the quality of competitive bids thereby positively impacting the value provided our clients. He achieves this through benchmarking, analysis, cost controls, reporting, and methodical application of preconstruction processes to meet objectives.
Kevin is responsible for all preconstruction activities, including hard bids, conceptual estimates, value engineering, quantity takeoffs, and oversight of all estimators and support staff for these functions providing leadership for the preconstruction/estimating process. Day-to-day duties include determining the scope of work, evaluating subcontractor estimates, identifying variances, consulting with others (subcontractors, architects, engineers, vendors, etc.) as needed, and analysis of historical project data, current market data, and trends in labor, material, and equipment costs to determine the adjustments necessary in the bid estimates.
He works in tandem with the Operations team to ensure an accurate and detailed handoff to support complete and cost-effective buy out for the construction phase. Kevin is a valuable resource providing support to the Operations team during construction regarding the assumptions in the preconstruction process as well as the means and methods anticipated to be used.
