Labor Day is a time to honor the skilled trade workers who are the backbone of the construction industry. Their expertise, dedication, and hard work is essential to build and preserve communities where we shop, dine, work, and live.
Our industry thrives on the diversity of talents and backgrounds among the craftsmen and women who bring their unique skills to every project. Whether you are an electrician, carpenter, drywaller, roofer, or HVAC specialist, your distinct experiences and perspectives are essential to successful projects.
For several years, we have been facing a labor shortage in our industry. This has created a high demand and new opportunities for growth and advancement for those with the skills and drive to carve out a rewarding career path in an industry that values their contribution. For those already established, you play a critical role. This moment allows you to mentor the next generation, sharing your knowledge and expertise, and shaping the future of the workforce.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (August 29, 2024), “Overall employment in construction and extraction occupations is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations from 2023 to 2033. About 663,500 openings are projected each year, on average, in these occupations due to employment growth and the need to replace workers who leave the occupations permanently.”
As we celebrate this Labor Day, we would like to recognize our subcontractors and their highly skilled teams who serve as our valued trade partners across the country. We extend our deepest gratitude to each of you.
Happy Labor Day!
